Joy in the Mourning Group

PASS (Post Abortion Support Service)

It's an outreach of Cleburne Pregnancy Center. Joy in the Mourning offers compassionate, caring and confidential help with a study and support group.

Abortion affects every life it touches and for many women, it hurts long after the choice has been made.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Maybe it was 25 years ago. Maybe it was last year, or last month. But you, or someone you know, may have been struggling with one or more past abortions. Maybe it was your choice. Perhaps it seemed like the only possible solution at the time or you were coerced, misinformed or even forced into unwanted abortions.

Circumstances vary widely, but women, men and families hurt by abortion need to know that they are not alone, that we care and that healing is possible.

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU NEED HEALING?

Perhaps you are thinking, “Okay, so I had an abortion. But that is in the past. Do I really need to be healed?” While some women seemingly never need to work through any kind of healing process, for most of us the memories lie hidden within, like an infection, weakening and impairing us in ways we don’t realize.

Do you feel reluctant to talk about the subject of abortion, or do you feel guilt, anger, shame or sorrow when discussing your own?

Are you fearful of others finding out about your abortion?

Do you think in terms of life “before” and life “after” the abortion?

Safe, confidential, nonjudgmental support of others makes it easier for us to confront and explore this part of our life and discover what God says about it as we study His Word together.

Held in small, confidential groups, this study is an opportunity to examine your experience, identify the ways that the loss impacted you in the past and present and help to acknowledge any unresolved feelings you may struggle with. Because of the emotional numbness and secrecy that often surrounds this experience, conflicting emotions both during and after the event may remain unresolved. These buried feelings can surface later and may be symptoms of post-abortion trauma. We learn to apply Biblical principles to those symptoms. The study is based on the belief that genuine, permanent healing of post-abortion pain can come only when a woman has come to grips with a more profound issue—her reconciliation to God.

Your abortion can become an accepted part of your past, rather than a troubling part of your present, freeing you to create a responsible, productive and joy-filled future.

Testimonies:

"It was my secret I had carried for 30 years. God took my guilt, shame and sorry and has healed me and filled my life back with His love and joy." --Corliss

"I had struggled with my feelings of disappointment that I could do such a thing. My self confidence was 0.  Finding God’s healing changed my life" --Amy

We currently offer two studies: Forgiven and Set Free and Surrendering the Secret. (A Post-Abortion Bible Study. )
